Hello! In art I specialize in acrylic paintings and hand painted clay sculpture/jewelry, but also bring my traditional skill set to digital mediums. I love to create both fan art and original pieces and have put a larger emphasis on creating video game inspired artwork that I then donate to Games Done Quick (since 2015) to be used as a donation incentive for Doctors Without Borders and Prevent Cancer Foundation.
More about me:
Currently Playing? Jones in the Fast Lane, Typing of the Dead, Township.
What do you do? I am a singer/songwriter and work primarily at a children's hospital hosting a live weekly sing-along show.
What’s your background? I've taken art classes of various mediums throughout my childhood through college. I also have a plethora of practical experience in event planning, writing and producing stage shows and have served on several boards and committees. I'm also recovering from obesity and, after having lost over 110lbs by avoiding highly processed food, have become increasingly active in health and disease prevention education.
How has your practice change over time? I did a lot of experimenting with different kinds of art until I found things that felt like "my thing" or that I really just enjoyed doing despite my ability to do it as well as I had envisioned. I thought I would always be dabbling and never really picking a focus, but I found that as I dabble, I always return(ed) to doodle paintings and pendants, so that's what I focus on most of the time and let my wandering out when I am lacking inspiration.
What do you most enjoying doing? Wandering around new places.
What jobs have you done other than being an artist? I'm excluding all art-related jobs from this list, like music/performing. Dogsitter, mansion cleaner, waitress, hostess, food service, retail/sales associate, event coordinator, State Fair sno-cone specialist.
What makes you angry? Photoshop.
What superpower would you have and why? To make others self-aware. If people REALLY knew and understood that they only got this one life, and that they have more control over it than they currently believe, I think we would be going about things very differently.
Name something you love, and why. Self-reflection. I have no desire to go back to my younger years because I have come so far from my previous version and am proud to be the person I have worked to become. I could not have accomplished this if I hadn't spent a considerable amount of time in reflection. I still do.
Name something you don’t love, and why. People who lack the ability to empathize with all forms of life. None of us asked to be here and we're all doing the best we can muster. Rather than fighting, blaming and competing, we'd do better to work as a team and coexist peacefully. I've settled for being the change I wish to see without expecting anything in return, which keeps me relatively sane.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? Take care of your teeth.
Professionally, what’s your goal? To assist those who are making a positive difference in the world.
What wouldn’t you do without? My husband
